    Possible "new" old truck....

So.. I had a few minutes of daylight and scooted under to check a few things. Right side tail light out due to old hacked trailer wiring. Most of the stuff on hand to repair but will wait until the temps climb back up. Also, found a new leak in the rear brake line along the axle. I didn't...

    Possible "new" old truck....

Still investigating.... I'm thinking linkage needs some goin' over first. might have to wait until the weekend. These 10 hour work days take a chunk out of my winter daylight hours. I don't mind laying under a truck in the snow...but doing it in the dark makes me ornery.

    Possible "new" old truck....

Only amp and oil pressure working. Topped off with ten gallons, checked oil, coolant, lights and gears... was a strong starter. Getting out of low and into hi was a challenge but we prevailed and made the 40 mile trip home at 60ish mph with no problems. Felt good on the road. Total utility beast.

    Possible "new" old truck....

    Winter beater/ high mileage Dakota

Settled on an 03 4wd with3.9. Bald tires and a bad ball joint. Cheap enough with the standard MN rust. Not too bad for the 150k + miles. 2 inch receiver and tonneau cover. New BFG /AT tires, ball joint and align and it’s feeling like it’ll do me for a while.

    It is starting

Replaced the 04 Dakota with a base model 03 4wd so I'm ready for the next round of snow. This spring is gonna be sloppy.

    Winter beater/ high mileage Dakota

I'm not planning on a lot of towing but I want to be able to drag a trailer if I need to. Short trips mostly. No long grades around here!

    Dakota bed patch metal?

ha! no, that clean shiny straight rust-free 04 is now gone. Or at least the insurance company is auctioning it off.... just grabbed a decent 03 Dakota ex cab with some bad bed spots. Currently debating practicing some patch panel welding in the truck bed or....buying a bed from a salvage yard...

    Winter beater/ high mileage Dakota

I'm looking for advice or cautionary tales of what to look for and scrutinize on a 200K+ Dakota. after my nice, shiny, clean, straight 04 Dakota was totaled on the HI way... I'm feeling truck less and want to pick up something cheaper to keep me moving and hauling. I've looked around and find...

    frame damage

Well the numbers are in. Ive worked it over all the ways I can think of....but I have to let it go. There is no way I can come out ahead financially. Sure was nice to ride a clean straight rust free truck for a little while. Gonna just find a high mileage winter beater truck for now to keep me...

considering taking a step back. I found a 92 Dakota 4x 5.2 with 200K decent shape small rust and drivers door dent. Could probably get it for under around 1k. I just need a truck. I got a daily driver that will last for a while. I haven't heard the numbers yet for pay out on the accident or...
