Twin turbo Lil Red

. Let's see if this works.

I thought I heard a rumble coming from your area ? I thought it was a storm coming . lol Seriously , Thanks for posting that , It sounds good and I needed something to cheer me up today .

Nice! That cheers me up a little. Did you know about turbo setups before you started this or was this your first rodeo? How did you figure everything out?

First turbo set up. A ton of research before I touched anything. And not being afraid to ask questions on other sites. I have some issues to work out. I have a small fuel leak in a brand new CSU carb and an oil leak from the valve covers. These are magnum heads with a rubber gasket with metal insert. Not sure why they are not sealing but have to figure that out before I start it again.

"Knowledge is good". Always a good thing to ask questions about something you are just getting into, and I'm never afraid or too proud to ask someone with more knowledge/skill than me. Congratulationsnon getting it running. I'm sure those leaks are simple fixes.

I have only worked on one turbo project of parts laying around the truck shop. Low budget and just plumbed things together. We really had no clue of what would work. Was one of those just due it projects. Amazingly it worked and was still running over 20 years afterwards. Just got luck on that one.

Not sure about the carb issue without seeing it , But as far as the valve covers leaking . How are you ventilating the crank case ? It's a shot in the dark , but could you be building up pressure causing the valve covers to leak ?

I have -10 lines in the valve covers going to catch cans so no pressure. I found the problem tonight when I took it apart. The gaskets are designed for stock head bolts. I am using ARP studs so the stud nuts are slightly taller and larger in diameter. So what happened is the gasket was sitting on top of the nut instead of being completely flat and it cracked the metal liner and tore the gasket. I will have to trim the new set to fit around the stud. And the carb leak was a bad diaphragm on the fron accelerator pump.

Now that those are fixed, go out and get on that thing! Have fun breaking it in and causing mischief in MA!

It's always the little stuff that shouldn't happen but does that drive you nut's on a fresh build . Two of the things that come to mind with mine was carb and distributor . Both new but both had issues and of course it was right when I was trying to bring it out .

I think it just might be a lil chilly around here for that just yet Mob . But I bet he's looking forward to spring even more now . ;)

Yea im putting it on stands today so I can finish up the wiring for head lights and tail lights. Have to find head light buckets mine rotted out. LMC has them for $40 each and I need 4 so I'm trying to find this used. Have to hook up the stacks and finish the interior. Then I have to swap out the mock up rotors for the good ones. So hopefully by spring it will finally be on the road.

For the headlight bucket you can get them from a 79/85 dodge van luckily they are the same. an easy find in junkyard. just my2cts.
