Yesterday, I ordered 2 Famous Brand 2D31 remanufactured 302 heads from Rock Auto. They had 3, so now they only have one. It was a 4 hour, online ordeal with customer service. I won't get a warranty because my '65 Dodge A100 van is not on the compatible vehicle list and their system only handles...
Well, I believe that those are the #'s Rock Auto lists for that model. I looking for rebuildable cores at a reasonable price, that they will accept. They will go on my '65 273.
Kiwi A100,
Great job on the restoration and the thread. I'm watching this thread too.
It looks like you are on Vintage-Vans.com as Kiwimopar and have already linked this build.
Sweetvan on Vintage Vans.
I'm just thinking of rebuilding it to get the compression up even in all cylinders and possibly boring, if needed, to take advantage of a 4-barrel intake and carb and dual exhaust. It's just not performing like I know it can. I want to be able to take long trips in it again and to pull a small...
I read that they stopped making the 4.7L in 2013. I guess the 4 speed automatic transmissions let them rev higher to get horsepower. Too bad they were problematic. It would be nice to have a modern engine.
Newer trucks and Jeeps have different V-6 or V-8 with fewer pieces now but those look...
Yes, I was considering it for a replacement engine in my '65 Dodge van. So all the wiring and sensors and an electronic control unit would also be needed? I guess that means a used but running engine that can be accessed by an electronic code reader. I have never had a vehicle with all that stuff.
I'm looking for general information on the 4.7L or 287 ci, V8, Dodge engine. According to an engine rebuilder, it is a modern V8 that tends to drop valve seats when they get too hot. What experiences have you had with this engine?
Thanks, Richard.
I started this thread with a survey. So far, there have only been a couple responses to the survey at the beginning of page 1. (I see now that the poll was only open for a couple week then was closed). So I put a picture of my '65 Dodge A100, window van in my avitar. Don't know why the picture...
The later years, '66-'70, pop out windows work. They don't have a metal frame around the glass and have a bottom latch that mounts through the glass. The newer latches don't quite line up with the inside (they don't rest pointing down when closed) but will work. Also, as I'm going to try to do...
Bobk,
There was a really nice, white, A100 pickup at the Fall Fling in Van Nuys, CA on 10/26/13. It had a 360 w/ automatic & a standard rear end. Sorry but I didn't get any contact info. I'm restarting my '65 window van project again. I got a lead to an intake manifold at the Fall Fling. Keep...
