jobrated_man , i think that right . the windows go and the floors are rainy wet and the ocean breeze ate no good for old cars . i email my friend steve who's into 58's to see what he's seen . steve lives in tracy , but will go far n wide to see a truck . know a guy in redding into 57's . i'll e him as well . you know that these were the first years for the step in the cab and new door seals as well . and they had the same windshield gaskets as 54 up . they weren't great . double whammy . my 60 has a worse floor than my 57 , go figger , lol . we'll keep the hunt up .

Got some photos of the red one in Brian's yard. Just surface rust, but a few cuts in side of cab that can be welded. Its a 59. will put a hold on it.

jobrated , hey was at brian's today getting a harness for my 69 crewcab . and i looked over the 59 cab , nice cab . small damage around the gas neck hole . but i very usable piece . why not buy that one . is the rear window wrong , its not as much work to cut it bigger and add the bracing from one into the other being modified . him and rose both told me someone else just came by looking at the same piece , a 59 cab . hope it was just your guys checking it out . you hate for you to snooze n loose . got me a cherry harness for my 69 crewcab . swapped in a 440 auto , with some good stuff to make it run nicer .

Thanks Paul. I think the fellow might have been Joe, my photographing buddy, who sent me the pictures. he was there last week. I've pretty much decided on my plan, but will wait till Tuesday, and talk with Brian. I don't like the butchered dash, and the gas filler hole, but this is still better than my cab. Thanks for the note and the heads up.

no problem jobrated_man . just didn't want it to get away from you . and it a good thing you have a donner cab to fit the new cab , much easier to fix then a floor and steps . don't know what route you'll take up to pick up the cab . but i'm just off the 280 freeway . if you wanted to stop in i'd welcome you openly . any dodge truck guy thats sick enough to come this far for parts , well its my kind of guy , lol . but i must say brian's number one on that list , just in sure time spent , lol .

I'll be going up to Brians to pick up the cab at end of next month. might take him that long just to get to the back of the yard where that truck is parked and haul it out. :) anyway, I can't get up there any sooner. it'll be a winter project for the cab switch. I also want to change to the dual barrel master cylinder at that time. not sure which master cylinder to use, and keep all drum brakes.

just any drum brake twin res will work , just make sure its has the same bore . and mounting . could be just a later year up to 74 still had drum braked on the pick ups . and brian has this rig to drag them out . he gets them out of the way with ease . as you've seen , he's not afraid of stacking them . lol .

Paul, is there an adapter to allow the different bolt pattern to fit the firewall? and what about the pushrod, wondering if the original old one would swap over. I don't see the early 70s MC being sold come with push rod. would dual MC use same length as the single?

not sure about the push rod length , and the pattern should be the same as the single master . and just need to get a duel master withe the same bore and piston depth so the rod is in the same location . but if your doing a disc conversion on the nose all the stuff changes and a rear brake pressure restrictor valve must be employed .

OK. all set to pick up that cab next week from Brian's Auto Salvage,. - temp obstacle, doing the rear axle bearings, replaced them but need more shims to set the end play on the tapered axles. wonder if that donor truck has the same axles, and are still on the frame. might have to claim the shims from it. can't find anywhere else.

Talked with Steve at DCM Classics. They have the pattern for the shims, and will laser cut me some. Then will keep in stock. Those fit the earlier W series and B series trucks also.

Paul, I did pick up the cab at Brian's yard in Vallejo. Turns out it was in pretty good shape but some hidden damage I found later. will have to replace floorboard on driver's side, and some typical rust areas, and sadly, he tweaked the door opening when he lifted it off the chassis with the crane - I think the corner left bolt was still in the chassis and would not budge. I have the cab blasted and primed now, so will get all the work done over the winter.
