A100 SOLD.jpg

1968 Dodge A100 Pickup

General Information

I bought this truck out of Arkansas in March 2009, from a local Online Trader site (Auto Trader Classics). After making a $10 deposit on PayPal, I sent an Internet buddy from near Houston to drive across and check it out for me, as it was not possible for me to view the truck myself. The truck was seen, a deal was made and money handed over. Transported across country to Long Beach, Ca, the truck was then loaded into a container bound for New Zealand.

Unbeknownst to me, it travelled in the same container as a '78 Dodge Ram Pickup, bought by another Kiwi guy, who I didn't know at the time. This guy has turned into my best friend, and also my Number 1 guy for all things mechanical. Cliff "MowPar" and I have been working on vehicles together now ever since, and it was he who provided the expertise in reviving this older engine transplant and bringing the A100 to life.

Was it red when you bought it and did a guy named Dell Olson used to own that truck?
I bought this from Dusty (Dustin) Riggs, sorry I don't know about previous owners to him....and yes it was red when I bought it.

Thanks, and don't worry....I usually put up something about us crazy guys down-under.

Several years back I owned two A100's, a 3 window cab and a 5 window cab. I sold the 3 window to Dell and he dropped in a 360 and did the body work on the truck and even entered it in the Houston Autorama but imo, the body wasn't finished out all that nice.....at least not to be in a show. That was probably 20-25 years ago. What little I drove it back then drew attention too.

The PO on mine (Dusty) bought it with the 360 already in - not sure how long ago, as it looked OK in the bores etc. He had plans to set up a Water Blasting business using the truck to carry all the equipment. Money and ambition did not align well, so the truck was put up for sale.

Looks great and a decent price you got it for.
Thanks...it was originally advertised for $5.500...but eventually the price dropped. I didn't even haggle with the guy after missing out on a dozen or more previous to this one.
