This is the Shelby Dakota I might buy this fall

99 percent sure this is coming home...

Went out and checked the tow rig...left front wheel was locking up some when you hit the brakes hard. I backed off the adjuster on that one and it fixed the problem. I am going to pick up the Shelby next weekend in Roby Missouri.

Long rough trip..

:cool2: 1450 miles later I got back today with the Shelby Dakota..got back home about 2:00 PM. Dallas Rice is a stand up guy and even has collected some part cars and future projects. Pictures taken at his place before I loaded it up and headed back.
One picture shows proof that it is in my driveway. I did drive it around the block and am going to get it legal tomorrow.

The Shelby looks good.
Thanks it is going to stay pretty much the same...front seal is leaking on the compressor. He was up front with telling me that and I have already located a new one. Got to have cold A/C down here in Texas.

$1,100.75 for taxes title and license..I got the tags for three years.

I got it all legal today. Inspection for emissions and two new wiper blades was $63 bucks. Tax, Title, Road and bridge fee and three years worth of tags was the big killer. Texas gets you coming and going on vehicle taxes. It's all legal now with a picture of the plates. My wifey drove it just ten minutes ago and loves it. The steering is nice and tight to. Rack and pinion.

Well I went and got rained on twice. This truck doesn't leak so big worries...just extra wipe downs. There were more than 25 cars there and I won a top 25 plaque which was fine with me. Cars shows these days are like don't hurt anyone's feelings shows. When I got home I replaced the leaky valve cover gaskets just like Dallas suggested I do. It was a challange with all the stuff in the way. This truck has a Holley throttle body and after I was through I started her up and she purred like a kitten. The gaskets were so old and brittle they broke apart.

Took off all the belts also they lived past thier life...will get new ones tomorrow.

No pics yet but a great success last night...new drier and new expansion valve all buttoned up last night. Ran my neighbor's vacuum pump on it for 1 1/2 hours until I saw no more water vapor coming out. Shut off the guages and this morning it was still holding negative on both sides and at the same place as last night. Be ready to shoot some 134a in the system tonight.

PS The wifey finally saw underneath the hood. I told her that I was going to freshen it up and she reminded me that I have another project to finish first.

Got home and the guages still showed good so about by 9:00 I was listening to Led Zepplin in an ice cold truck.

Tonight I washed under the hood and scrubbed as good as I could...it did look like a mouse was habitating on the intake manifold. Dark picture sorry. Tomorrow night I wash the outside again and get it ready for the big Halloween show put on by my club the Houston Mopar Connection Club..I sponsered 5 first place trophies. Should be nice weather also.

I had a great day today...lots and lots of Mopars at the Mopar Club's Halloween show...made it there safe and back safe...with cold A/C...there were 156 paying cars there so I was not counting on anything big...I am pretty sure everyone got a trophy. I got a small one for being in the 1980-present Truck class.

Got some new bling yesterday

You all know how your wheels are a big part of the look of your truck. So mine have a couple of issues. The clearcoat around the outside rim of the wheel is peeling and the center caps have turned colors and have some scratches. So I found some NOS center caps at Arizonaparts.com and bought them. I will take the wheels off two at a time and get them media blasted and powdercoated.
