Seam sealer

I've sweated alot of copper pipe over the years. I'm pretty sure I have the concept down.
Though lately I might sweat a dozen copper fittings a year. There was a time I did a bunch.
There are some pits/ pock marks in the underside of the drip rail. While I have this roof off and upside down I can't think of any better way to fix and seal that area as it is a well known notorious spot to go bad on these cabs. As much as I have into this project I want to do all I can to stop it and keep it from getting worse.
Also while off and upside down I'm gonna soak the hell out of the innards of this roof with POR 15 or KBS or Eastwood rust encapsulator. I currently have the encapsulator "plus" on hand.
I have an Eastwood store a little bit over an hour north of me. I've been in there a lot lately. Including a class on powdercoating class there last weekend. Never heard of "no carode" flux either, I have 2 different fluxes I got from Eastwood
 
The various encapsulateors that I've tried seem to work pretty well. Haven't tried to apply bondo over it yet but I did paint over it. It wasn't exposed to the elements so the long term results haven't been evaluated.
Yes, 60-40 is a good wiping solder. I'm just used to calling it by that because that's what I used it for. Wiping (soldering) lead water services, drains and closet bends and risers to brass feaurels. I suppose you could just tin with 6-40 then lead it. You'll have a great time trying to get the lead to take (bond)without tining it.
Keep me posted, I'm about ready to start mine. It will be nice to have the windshield in 🙄
 
My 1980 Chrysler body book calls for
rope type sealer (no makeup given)
vinyl acrylic sealant
plastic solider
Strange they don't specify were to use them.

I think the lead solider is frond up by the EPA. Guess they think lead poisoning is a real thing. I haven't every tried it.
 
Well I have some pitting and a couple of holes that definitely don't belong in the drip rail and I can't trust plastic type "Bondo" to "not" absorb water and fall out so lead it will be in that area. Pizz on the epa.... All can say about them is they better not outlaw my 70s and 80s vehicles
