Here's my two, a 2000 and newly aquired 96. I took the topper off the 96 to install a tonneau cover and pulled up the green shag carpet and look what I found......nothing but unmolested paint. Both trucks are 3.9/autos. tmm

Well actually...the cab and bed are just sitting on the frame, which is on jackstands because the suspension is sitting in the garage for sanding and coating. The wheels, are just sitting in the wheel-wells. I'm thinking at this point I don't want to lower it.

After I got the replacement cab, I wanted to see how it would fit together since it's an '86 cab (and a '76 bed). I was mostly concerned that the doors wouldn't fit. These later model cabs are nice because they used plenty of galvanized steel for the floor and rockers.

I've got a thread started to document my resto...http://www.fortrucksonly.com/truckf...-1979-Dodge-Lil-Red-Express-Truck-Restoration

i like the stance. i would like my red one on post above to have that stance. it used to be a 78 stepside like yours. i gave away the rust free step side bed which is now on a lifted 79 ford truck. lol
i also upgraded to the 81 cab and clip along with the 86 bed.

This is my '57 D200 flatbed dually. It has the original 315 poly motor & 4 speed with 4.10 gears. I rebuilt the bed using Malaysian hardwood and 1/8" steel plate over 3/4" birch plywood with tie-down straps all around. I am building a 354 hemi industrial/marine motor for it and have a divorced gear vendors overdrive as well.

Oh my I love this truck!!! I want to have my bed made about the same as your's for my 1970 D300.

Thanks for the kind words :).

I didn't want to see a lot of the hardware like on newer builds so I used flathead screws from the inside, and the old pockets are so tight that I haven't needed the upper panel connectors. The tight pockets make it more difficult to remove the panels, but I'm not taking them out everyday so I am happy.

Here is my 1997 3500 dually.. Cummins, 5 speed, Dana 80 with a 3.54 open (yay) rear. The front bumper is one from LMC with fog and driving lights. Picked up a set of used Sport type mirrors and the Sport headlamp assemblies this last weekend from local upullit yards for cheap. Had the pump rebuilt and custom assembled injectors installed and now it runs like it's supposed to! Thanks to Stan at the Red Oak Diesel Clinic in Red Oak Iowa.
Bought it this spring for around $6K and now have about $10K in it and should be stone axe reliable, like my 93 D350 dually was.
Other future plans include getting rid of the cheesy fake hood scoops the previous owner installed and replacing the missing wheel caps somebody stole before I bought it. Also some sound system upgrades for greater driving enjoyment.
Glad to be here on the forum!
Alan
