bird bath hoods on newer D/W trucks

Somebody does. I saw it as I was looking for something else last week and ran across it... $600 ish and says it requires hood pins. Think it's a "lift off" deal.
I'm guessing that if it has the mounting pad that the original hinge could bolt to you'd have to remove the springs from the hood hinges and use a prop rod in order to use them
This truck is costing me enough as is I need that $600 elsewhere.
I'm gonna go look at a different cab hopefully on Sunday. Wanted to go tomorrow but the seller is NA.
That's more important right now than running the hood I hope I am gonna be able to. Unless finding a better cab saves me more in body shop time and materials than it costs me...I have stock normal for 80s truck hood here as a plan B. Ideally I'd like to send one of each to the paint shop.... Both painted to match the truck

Don, if you're still looking for a good cab, the D-250 I have has a super nice, original paint, no rot cab. I don't know how the rust situation is in Illinois but, for this truck being in the rust belt, the cab & frame are in excellent shape because it's been in a warehouse for 24+ years. I know you are 4 states away but, I could make the trip worth your while as I have some parts to get rid of also & would make a package deal for you. You can see the pics I took of it in the trucks for sale section with details of what it is. PM me if any interest. Ted

1st photo, This is the valance panel from a 77 trail duster. Minor differences but enough to mess up the alignment.
2nd photo, why stop with the hood? I've wanted to do this since 81 or 82. The parts are coming in almost daily so, I'll start a new thread of the build soon .
Ps: I had to pull parts from (2) two 77 pickups and one trail duster to have a complete dashboard.
