    gas pedal

That's exactly what I was looking for! Rebuild the plate on the top of the floor to match the plate that fits under the pan, and it should be all good. Thank you

    gas pedal

If I were doing a concourse restoration, I'd weld them. But, I'm not.

    gas pedal

It's on my list to learn as well. But I'd rather get the truck running and enjoy it sooner.

    gas pedal

I considered something like that. But my goal is to have a nice interior, ratty exterior with a nice interior. So I'm looking for a cleaner way to do it. Somebody has done this without a welder! I'm going to panel bond the pan replacements in. As expensive as that goop is, it's cheaper...

    gas pedal

Working on replacing the floor pans in my 75 D300 manual transmission. When I got the truck one of the ball studs was missing (very annoying, but totally workable). When I removed the rest of the assembly (the second ball stud and the bolt that holds everything together) the second ball stud...

    truck cab storage

I managed to find a cab from an 89 with minimal rust (just a little bubbling in the floor pan). The guy I bought it from had a forklift so loading it was not an issue. Unloading it during a pandemic was not a well thought through punch list item. With the help of many pallets, could I just...

1979 Dodge Lil Red Express Truck Restoration

I was perusing this entire thread. Answered some really important questions for me about fitment of a newer cab on an older rig. It doesn't look like a quick process to swap them over, but I think it's how I'll proceed. Glad to have seen this thread! Super valuable for me. And, cool rig!!!!

    Body swap questions

My 75 is running well but has some rust issues. Yes, floor pans, but even with my lack of welding skill, I would feel comfortable replacing those. The real issue is the upper cab corner along the drip rail. It appears that the rust extends down below the gasket line for the windshield so I'm...

    Trans swap? Re-gear?

I did miss that part! Guessing that the removable trans tunnel was short lived and didn't make it to 75. Thoughts on what that trans is? Having converted to a 1 ton, how does the 727 do both with hauling heavy loads (3 or 4 yards of sand this morning) and how does it down on the highway...

    Trans swap? Re-gear?

Here's a photo of the trans. My neighbor borrowed the truck to pick up a load of sand this morning so it's riding a little low in the back to get to the back side of the rear end. I'll inspect that later.

    Trans swap? Re-gear?

The first thing I notice is the lack of a gear shifter sticking through your tunnel. Mine is flatish around the area of the stick, but then rounds out as it goes towards the seat.

    Trans swap? Re-gear?

The previous owner did say it was Dana 70, but I'll check tomorrow. I have to imagine that running 4:10s wouldn't hurt my hauling capacity to any great extent. I don't 'think' the tunnel was removable originally. When I got it, the area of the tunnel around the shifter was held in place...

    Trans swap? Re-gear?

I've got good weather coming this weekend and will work on it then. I should be working on the rust issues, but this is less intimidating for me. :)

    Trans swap? Re-gear?

75 D300 dually, 360, 4 spd manual (with granny low). Got my rig running nice (crappy engine electrical work performed by previous owner). Around town, it's great! Runs smooth, reasonably quite (the holes in the floor and lack of sound deadening make it a little louder). But, above about 50...

    Help timing my truck

I spent a lot of time reading up last and just tested things. So, yes, there's more timing in it now without vacuum advance, about 36*. With vacuum advance it's well over 40 (I didn't add any more marks on the balancer so don't have an exact number). Here's what I couldn't find in my...

    Help timing my truck

Managed to square the transfer slot. It took some serious tweaking, but I got it. It didn't seem to help anything. Thought I had found a tach. Turns out I had bought a multi-meter from HF that had a tach on it. Pretty sure my engine wasn't running at 150rpm. Guessing closer to 600 to 800...

    Help timing my truck

There are no screws on the passenger side, except the body for the electronic choke and the screws to adjust that. On the driver's side there is a fast idle adjuster where the screw head points towards the front of the car, basically parallel with the ground. Below that screw, on an adjacent...

    Help timing my truck

I'd go try exactly that, but it's hailing. I think I'm done for the day. :) I did do a couple of things thinking I was stuck where I was. I put the larger secondary jets that came with the carb (I believe these are original, but who knows) back in and pulled the smaller ones (398 were in the...

    Help timing my truck

Forgive the less than stellar photos. It appears that the Edelbrock 1406 isn't capable of blocking the transfer slots. It won't even go square. I got them a little more square than they were, but they're still pretty rectangular. The top photo is supposed to be showing the screw, I think you...

    Help timing my truck

I cranked each cylinder until max pressure showed on dial. I think it took 5 or 6 cranks (ish) on each cylinder. The '9th' cylinder is a good idea, I'll try to remember that next time. Battery appears strong, starter is brand new. (Heck, everything but the bottom end is brand new.) I'm...
