Lets see your Dodge trucks! Post some Pic's!

Yesterday I saw an old pickup my mom's friend used to own before he died. Not real sure of what year it is, but it's the same color as the 66 powerwagon above, but has 4 headlights instead of the 2 "dishpan" headlights. Pretty sure it had a 383 and mom's old buddy was in his upper 80s, half blind (literally), couldn't hear and had one hand cut off in an industrial accident and he'd squal the tires taking off from a stop light. Not sure if he knew he was doing so or not. It had WAY over 100,000 miles at that time and still ran like the proverbial striped butt ape. That was around 15 years ago and the body was rock solid then (and set outside all of the time) and it's still rock solid as of yesterday. If that's common, then Dodge really took several steps backwards in rust resistance when they came out with the 72's.

mike bee cool Plymouth Trail Duster project, keep us all updated on the progress... sounds like it will be nice & fun

thanks!i just added a pic of the 440 installed.it's not gonna win any beauty contests, but it should bee fun.

That would be a 61-mid65.

No, that's unheard of! The cab mounts/floors, the rockers, the leading edge of the hood, the bottom of the doors, and below the tail lights all rust out like crazy on the 60's trucks.

A buddy and I went wheeling this weekend. Inaugural run for both our builds, and it went without much of a hitch.

Good photography! I esepecially like the 2nd one. The first one would have been great with some fill flash to fill in the dark shadows common this time of year. And the last one could have used a horizontal format, but the reflections, the truck lights on and the light background above the truck is great.

I'm not criticizing your photos, but rather critiquing them. Here's a tip; the bottom one could have really been cool if in the horizontal format and with the truck or at least most of it in the left half or 2/3s. When you have people walking, cars, trains, planes, etc moving, you want to give more room in front of the subject and less behind. In short, give them a place to go. And think in thirds, just like a tic-tac-toe board with 3 sections across and 3 down. Put most of the mass, subject, or light or dark area centered where the lines of the tic-tac-toe lines intersect. For example, on the top photo, the Dodge on the tail gate and the corner of the truck is in the lower left intersection and the truck is aimed toward the top right intersection. The trees are well lit but not washed out. What a shame you didn't have some fill flash to lighten the shadows, it would have been a superb photo.

On the second photo, note how the dark shadow of the fender is in the lower right intersection, the wave is in the lower left and Dodge and the sun are competing for the upper right. And don't worry about the lens reflections, that's very common when shooting into the sun. Some lenses are less affected. I know my Nikon lenses are much better than the cheaper Vivitar lens I sometimes use.

I'm certainly no expert in photography, but I have won several contests and taught a few photography classes. Having good structure and composition of your photos makes them more naturally pleasing to the eye. Often times people like a photo, but they can't explain why. Good composition and contrast is usually the reason why. And having well composed photos often makes the difference between people asking to see more or them sneaking off to get away. And there's just something good feeling when you see a good photo of your motorcycle, truck, etc. Oh yeah, and the wife and kids. Can't forget them, but if you can at least get them setting in the truck or washing it.....

Thanks man! The second one is the only one I actually took, and that was merely holding it out the window while driving, while trying not to drop the camera...haha I guess I was more trying to post pictures based on action, instead of artistic quality. I'll see if I have some better ones for your keen eye. I've had a camera hanging off my shoulder for about 16 years now, and have taken a few classes along the way, so I know what you're getting at. I'm a bit odd with my photography, I break a lot of the 'rules', I hate flash with a passion, I over crop...

I've always been attracted to the lettering on the fender of this truck, so I liked how that played a more prominent role in the second photo above. But this one has more proper composition, with the trim leading your eye across the picture.

And one like you're saying with the 2/3 rule, and leaving the truck somewhere to go.

Oh, and no wife and kids here yet, just me and my Mopars.

Just my two cents , but I liked all the pictures . :noidea: That lil Ram 50 looks cool ! What's he run'in under the hood ?

It's a 90 Ram50 body, massaged onto a 70's W150 shortbed chassis. So right now it's all stock full size stuff for the drivetrain. 360/727/203/Dana44 and 9 1/4 axles.
