As my engine gets put back together, I'm remembering that I had to bend the factory throttle cable mount to get things in better alignment with the Edelbrock carb. During disassembly I noticed that the bending cracked the mount so I need to replace it regardless. But, I'd like to move the mount from the intake manifold to the the carb...but I don't want to spend a fortune.

I see a lot of these types of mounts, but they all seem to be for the SBC. What have others used for aftermarket throttle cable mounts on your small block Dodge with the clamp style throttle cable adjuster? Or, have you had to swap to a different style throttle cable?

Either modify your factory bracket or get a aftermarket cable and bracket.

Hence the question...

I can grab a junkyard bracket and modify it, ideally without breaking this one. But I'd rather do the aftermarket. However, everything I've seen from the aftermarket appears to be oriented towards the small block Chevy (SBC). This is why I'm asking what others have done. Is there a reasonably priced bracket that works with an LA motor?

went with lokar cable and bracket and i am happy with this setup. Easy fix.

build your own stuff , lokar is for gm crap . done that stuff , i have just modified stock stuff , enough if rework need some welding . aftermarket has replacement issues and was designed for custom showy not drivers . i've been hot rodding cars for 40 years now . and the stock stuff modifies fine and lasts .

That's a cool setup!!!

I haven't yet learned to weld, someday. I did talk to my neighbor and we'll weld up the tweaked factory mount tomorrow at some point. It's not exactly what I had wanted to do, but, as you pointed out, and I figured out earlier today...it just works. So fine, I'll do what works.

And now I have to deal with being jealous of your setup.

no be jealous , just learn from all what you see . i'm used to working with no funds and plenty of ideas , and enough talent to build it . and welding is a must when building a dream .

Did not pay that much, this setup was found at swap meet as well as aluminum intake was on a w200 truck before got the lot for fairly cheapmoney. just added new cable borrowed from a bicycle brake . work 's nicely. So much better than the stupid factory crap .

i've made up cables using bike and goped brake cables and adjustable ends before . even for shaved handle cars for a door enter cable opener , if the power opener conks out .

That factory bracket can be cut, and a piece welded to it to give it the right length, I had to do that when I put a spacer under the carb, and it works great. I plan on putting an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake on a 440, and I'll have to do the same again, or I could spring $80 for a nice, clean, properly bent, extended bracket. If I do t have a welder by that time, I'll drop the coin, it is nice and outs the cable right where it should be.

Welding should be taught by 6th grade, it's a great skill to have. Still wish I would have taken shop class.

That I did. Welding class got me a few jobs and almost had my Iowa welding certificate before the economy went to pot in the late 70's. I did it long enough that I determined standing in a factory weld shop was not what I wanted to do for life. It was way more fun designing things.

i wish i had taken a pic of more of the modified throttle brackets i've built from stock stuff . think about it , your not reinventing the wheel here , just raising the carb , maybe a little forward of the old set up . no duel carbs , no sideways carbs , no blower , no tunnel ram , no crossed carbs , no 6pk . so keep it simple , don't make yourself nuts .
