hi there,

just wanted to smooth out those hard knocks when driving on bad roads.. so i purchase that Monroe Universal Steering stabilizer shock kit MON - SA 1932 from Summit.

but i got stucked trying to figure out how to mount this thing the correct way, and which bracket has to bolted to what ever part of the Frame.

the instruction that came with the kit is really bad (the letters are tiny and it´s totally faded) the parts i can read are more or less cryptical

therefore i wanna ask: Is there anybody out there having used this kit and mounted it sucessfully and can give me hints (or pictures, what will be great and help me most i think)

I mounted a stabilizer on my 99 Truck. Not sure how different yours is. I would suggest you trying a search on You tube! By the way, nice looking truck you have there and belated welcome aboard!

I looked at the part you got from Summit, the applications listed were all Chevy. That doesn't help, I know.

Did a quick Google search for a 78 model, I guessed. Came up with some options, but this is what a Dodge kit looks like. It is another brand, but I did it for visual purposes.

The tab on the left goes to the frame, the tab on the right to the axle. This one is from stockwiseauto.com but I'm sure there are more options. That sucks you got the wrong part, but it can easily be fixed. Let us know how it goes when you get the correct kit.

And please, start a photo garage, or post some pics of your truck, it looks great in your avatar!

This may be of some use - I found it in my Supplemental Manual for 1968 trucks;

Let us know how that looks.

thank you all for your replies...

in the meantime i got some good hints..

ironic one of the best hints came from a chevy-source :muted:

and i also received a copy of the instruction in better shape so that i can read the text at least.
still a bit cryptical and strange

but now i got an idea of how it should be installed

it seems that i have to use the rear most bolt where the steering bolts to the frame (similar to the pic and the way it has to done when doing it on a Chevy) I just have to figure out the right holes

Concerning an album, yes i should/would do one. But unfortnately i have not so many photos at the moment ... just because... First: i´m more a "driver"-person then a photographer, and Second: i purchased the truck in August this year.. so i haven´t got the time to do much photos :snaphappy: but here are a few Introducing FTO's Newest Member: lilredridinghoo

Good Morning... finally made it ot install that steering damper kit ... here are the pics how its bolted to the frame and the centerlink. Once i figured out how it was supposed to be... it was pretty easy and took only 20 minutes
