Hello everyone, I'm new to the group here. I have 2 d150s, an 84 Prospector and an 85 short step-side. I enjoy them both driving and fixing. Both have the slant six but the Prospector is manual a833 and the step-side is the 904 w/lock-up converter.
O would like to put in the step-side a rear mounted tank. I have the tank, but would like the find the three cross-member mounts (rearward from the shock mounts) for it.
Also ask, for help locating the gauge sending unit/pickup tube unit. Please, if anyone has done this or knows where to direct me, I would be grateful for the help.
In the future if i am still young enough,
, I'm hoping to put a newer (after 2013?) 5.7 hemi and 6spd automatic trans into one to these. Which one would you choose?
The Prospector is already very decent in the body, dash, knobs, frame etc. Good paint is about all it would need.
The step-side has parts from at least 5 different trucks but is pretty much all good metal now. Windshield is de-laminating. It will need body work, glass and weatherstripping, wiring is a mess etc. However, it would be a very cool sleeper or daily driver even with the newer power-train. As it is, it already gets more comments and conversations it the condition its already in.
Anyway, If anyone knows where I might find the tank mounts and/or sending unit assembly please direct me. I'd like to hear any successes and challenges or pitfalls I'm looking at. I did see DodgeFred's and Dart4forte's posts. Thank you for taking time to read this. I hope it's posted correctly.
