I have an 85 Dodge D100 and I am hoping to cure an electrical problem. My truck has a gauge for oil pressure. The motor that was installed has a oil pressure sending unit for an idiot light. I purchased the proper gauge sending unit and it has in terminal for a slip on connector. In the process of changing it out, I found the sending unit has 3 wires; blue one to the autochoke (not needed, I have a manual choke, white wire went to nowhere and red wire went to J10 junction. The white wire should have gone to spot 26 on the bulkhead wiring connector. Do I need the red wire at all or can I fust direct wire from the clip on connector directly to the bulkhead connector?

If the pressure switch on the engine has three terminals and looks like the switch in the following image, it is for a 1979 or later Chrysler vehicle with an oil light and the electrically assisted choke.

The center terminal is for the dash light and the outer terminals are for the internal switch that opens when the engine is not running, or loses oil pressure, to shut off current to the choke.

To use the oil pressure sending unit for your dash gauge, the three terminal switch and wires can be removed/disconnected, and the original truck sending unit wire can be connected to the new gauge sending unit which looks similar to the following image:

Some vehicles used both light and gauge from the factory using a tee/adapter. The following image is a factory tee/adapter to run both switch and sender:

I cured my problem. I installed a 6" pipe nipple, a 45 degree elboe and a tee and now have the bet of both worlds. I have both sending units. One for the autochoke and internals and the other to drive the gauge. Thanks for the help and suggestions
