I just got a newer (newest we have ever had) truck a 2016 1500 " big horn"
I just got done looking through the manual and did not see anything about this.
I went to the parts counter with the vin and they printed me out a list of everything this truck has .. and it's listed as a "feature" but I cannot stand it.
The incessant ding ding ding seat belt reminder bullshyt.
PLEASE DO NOT say "just buckle the damn thing..".... That is NOT the right answer. HOW DO I DEACTIVATE THIS NUISANCE????
I CANNOT STAND IT.

I don't know if you can Don. It's probably hooked into something else & won't allow you to disconnect it. That wouldn't surprise me at all. One of the reasons I like older vehicles. My newest is a 2001 2500 & I can still fix most everything myself. Maybe try getting a section of retractable seatbelt latch from a similar year truck from a salvage/scrap yard, plugging into receiver & see if that works? IDK

I didn't want this thing. It's a *wife thing". She did. I don't like"new" either. Needs tires. Gonna be $1400. I want to add a brake control box. Have to get from stealer and "have" them put in and program. It has to be "turned on" within the brain box for the truck to know it's there and my $2600 snap on scanner won't.
Another $364 plus an hour flat rape for programming. We've been looking for something for her. actually was looking at GM for the first time ever. She wanted a Tahoe or suburban. Everything I was finding was more miles than her 03 Durango, more rust than that Durango, even though we were looking at right around 10 years newer than the 03,
There's nothing really wrong with the Durango except it was "totaled " by a hail storm. Ever since she's been bugging me about"get something else ". This thing has way too many bells and whistles to be a truck. What is u connect? I told her I won't be able to do many things that we've taken for granted to this thing, and I've never been one for taking things in and paying a ridiculous price for whatever to be done. In this thing for some work I won't have a damn choice. I resent that.

Another reason you & I like the older vehicles. You're better off buying an older truck in really nice shape & spending top dollar for one of those than buying a newer one. IMHO.

Yup. Exactly why I have my 83 down to the bare frame. Finally got my engine into a machine shop.... She tells at me every time I buy something for it.... Hopefully she'll get it once done.... She's the type that catches on slow. But usually does. I mean she "saved" so many for me to look at and id have to explain why that wasn't gonna be "the one" and of the ones we have actually gone to see , once were there in person and can see touch feel, shes pretty good about finding issues and pointing them out, things that aren't good.... Once mine starts Coming together she'll get it. Once she starts seeing and hearing what it costs to "have" the things done that I can't do because they need to program it to accept the new part, something I've never had to do before with our older stuff, shell understand. But she has to see things in person to "get it".
