So, I am looking at buying a truck. Preferably regular cab, long-bed, automatic transmission. Does not need to be 4x4. I've been looking for something from the early 2000's. It will be a daily driver, take out occasionally fishing/camping, hauling rocks, wood, tools, and such in the bed, etc. Looking for something with decent gas mileage, reliable and long-lasting engine, and so on. Would prefer not a bunch of bells and whistles. I've been looking at a Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra around the 2008 year. I know every vehicle has its good and bad years. So, any help is much appreciated.

For a truck like you want, the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra from around 2008 can be good choices. They have strong engines and are known to last long with proper care.

Look for trucks with good maintenance records. Check for rust, engine condition, and how well it runs.

For gas mileage, trucks from the early 2000s may not be very efficient, but the V6 engines usually use less fuel than big V8s.

You can also check online marketplaces . They list many trucks and sometimes have detailed videos or info to help you decide.

It’s good to compare prices and options from different sellers before buying.

My trucks don't need service records.....95, 96 and 97 :D and all still running great. Well, the 95 is pretty loose as I was pretty hard on it lol but yeah, my are the exception to the rule. Most people though don't keep good service records and betting that my records are better than most even though I feel mine are minimal. In 88 I bought a 66 Plymouth Belvedere that still had the window sticker and every part that was replaced was in the trunk! Who does that with a bare bones 2dr sedan with a /6 in it. The only good option was factory AC! It's even radio delete!
