Looking at spiffing up an old distributor to swap out the old one in my 87 W250, converting it to a single pickup unit for simplicity and got a question or two - and since you're now our resident distributor 'spurt you're on the spot.. :D The FSM talks about lubing the governor springs before reassembly then using distributor cam grease on the support buttons under the plate - so........

1 - what to lube the governor springs with?

2 - what is/where do you get distributor cam grease?

Thanks for any help.
Mike

Not sure what the governor springs are I just use oil on the advance spring, The three "buttons" on the advance plate I use Cam lube or white grease. Make sure you use a small bit of engine oil on the advance shaft before it goes together and re oil the felt also. If you need any parts let me know.

The FSM called the advance springs governor springs so that's the term I went with. That's pretty much the way I put it together, now I just need to rewire the truck and stick the fresh unit in and see if it works.
Thanks
