Two big-name automakers are merging their truck divisions, hoping to boost profits and innovation as their industry is challenged by everything from labor shortages to the rise of EVs. Toyota Motor Corp. and Daimler Truck said Tuesday that they'll finalize the deal to bring together the subsidiaries, Hino Motors Ltd. and Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus, within the year. Each automaker will own a quarter of that business; further details are expected to be announced in the coming months.
