I have the 1968 Dodge D200 automatic transmission the shifter is in the dash I don’t see any reverse light switch on the back of the shifter, I do see a weird looking part attached to the side of the back of the shifter on the side plate, I see it move when the shifter moves from park to reverse to neutral but I’m not sure if that is the actual switch for this truck?
I search and I don’t see anything close to what it has right now and the switch it shows on the internet is nowhere to be found on this truck
What I’m missing here?
Any ideas where to look?
Or what it looks like?
Thank you

Ok under the truck on the transmission there is a switch that I believe is for the back up lights however the connector has 3 wires but only one is connected to the main wire? I can’t tell if the other wires are inside the insulation but 2 other wires are just hanging there I try connecting all of them together one by one to the main wire and I get no back up lights with the ignition turn on and the truck on reverse truck is not running of course any one knows what’s going on here?
Are the other 2 wires inside the insulation? I can’t tell what colors the wires are

That's the neutral safety switch/ backup switch. The 2 wires hanging are for the backup lights. One wire will be power to the switch, the other wire goes out to the lights. You will have to some digging to see where they go

Thank you for the information
I don’t see any cut wires
Reverse lights are connected and I can follow the lead to the front of the truck but I don’t seem to find any cut wires
One thing I notice is the wires coming from the reverse lights meet at one point and they seem to be in the insulated black wire going towards the switch
I might have to expose that wire where it meets the switch to see if they are in there
