Dakota Suspension

I used a Hotchkis kit consisting of front & rear springs & Bilstein shocks on my 2000 Dakota. They have been on there for about 20 years now & have had no problems except, on the lower control arms, the factory bump stops are in a metal cup riveted to the lower control arm & they would bottom out. I installed a modest 2"-3" drop, so I removed the metal cups & installed universal poly/urethane bump stops from Energy Suspension. It handles & rides very good. I would probably go with the dropped spindles instead of the springs next time if I had the cash.

Apparently Hotchkis no longer makes components for the Dakota.
 
I can understand that. They were a popular vehicle back in the day but not many people still mess with them. I'm lucky, I still have a real nice one.
 
Good morning guys bell tech makes springs still part#4764. 2” lowering v8 spring no one offered dropped spindles and I think they still off lower control arm but the geometry is not good and I think they still have rear spring kits but you have to cut front hanger bolts off and relocate and shim rear axle perches
 
I have removed a bottom rear spring on each side (the short ones) on a 95 V8 Dakota that I bought new. That helped drop the rear end a bit with no other mod done to it. I've also heard of people heating up a coil to lower the front end a bit but, I've never done this myself. If you just want to drop it a bit these tricks may be all you need.
