Hi..I have a 85 dodge prospector 2 wheel drive , 318 auto. I installed a new battery and alternator on it, driving around days later I smelled that rotten egg smell. Battery was cooking. Next day added water to cells, all was well. A few days later it needed more water, like a qt or more. Today driving around I noticed the smell again. Im thinking maybe the voltage regulator is bad, overcharging the battery?? Any ideas...Thanks DAN

Sound's like your battery is over chargeing . I'd say voltage reg or something is wrong with the feild circut ( open ) . What does your gauge read ?

Thanks, my tester is packed away still, moved down in april. I did find a loose connection on one of the leads on the altenator.. hopefully thats it, ill get a tester on Tuesday.

You can go to one of the Auto parts places and they can test it real quick on the truck. That's an option too.
