Hey yall got a quick question does anyone know what the thickness (diameter) of the axle is on a 9.25 dif in a 98 1500 is. You know the area where the bearing and seal are. Mine was growling pretty good and I want to know If the axles are any good or do I have to replace them. TIA!

If the axle isn't worn then your good. You will see where it rides on the bearing, any pitting or wear will be seen. Look for this

Two examples of what you don't want.

Thanks for the info, I did find a 1" to 2" micrometer (I thought I didn't have one) One axle Is good and one Is most definitely bad came in at 1.5975. doesn't look to bad but it is. Now I have to figure out if I have a HD axle or SD.
