One more question. I thought I read on this site somewhere what I had to do to lower the truck a couple of inches. If I remember right, does replacing the lower control arm with one from a 77 van do the trick or is there more to it than that?

Yep, you can use the van LCA. Some say there are issues, but I don't know as I've never tried.

yes you have to do an alignement front and might need some offset bushings for the upper arm to correct the angle.... not big deal.
