I'd say it's been around the block a few times.
And Still avg 28MPG(depending on where I get fuel.Amsoil Fuel concentrate ,Cetane boost at every stop
Funny thing, I had to look 3 times I thought it said 93,354,834. I know of some people have a cummins up past 400,000. I've heard of 600,000 but I think that is bull.
I'm probably I don't think I'll wait too much longer I know the pump is weak. I'm looking for a rebuidable core so I can start on my back up.
LOL HAHAHAH HAHAHAHAHAHEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!! I would have 800K on mine if the speedo hadn't quit working a month ago..... I really should ix it.
305,000 mi still strong 1997 3500 4X4 305,000 mi still strong 1997 3500 4X4
If you can rebuild a lawnmower you can rebuild that pump.92 pushing 500- 93-460 I don't know about bull but these cows still run hard.I am going to try an 85 speedometer these 100's don't last.Anybody tried this ?
With that many miles on it have you ever had problems with the so called killer dowel pin that supposedly plagues the first gen cummins?
If you are talking to me-I don't know anything about a killer dowl pin.The only dowel pin that I think could cause a problem would be the timing pin that you push in to hold the engine while you take off the pump.Is that the one?
No its not that pin! The pin I am talking about is on the front side of the engine. The pin you are talking about engages the cam gear I think. The killer dowel pin is at about the 8 or 9 oclock positition to that gear. I have only ever heard anti dodge guys and 1 Cummins guy I know talk about it. I was just curious if it was something to really worry about with the first gen cummins or if it was something that is known to happen but doesn't happen really that often?
Was just talking to who ever had an answer! LOL
Sorry I don't have an answer -never heard of that pin.Have had seven 89-93's biggest problems are trans and rear axle-and heater switch.
Ok now at 359.000 and my trans broke. This is the first major expense.Si Si can't squeek tooo hard.
I only have 200,000+ on my 97 ram 4X4 3500 12 valve, hardly broken in, it is on it's second trans (auto, should have gotten the 5 speed I guess)
Killer Dowel Pin! What is it? Killer Dowel Pin! What is it?
Its an alignment pin for the timing cover or what ever its called on a cummins. Supposedly there are known to work there way out and when that happens its bye bye engine. If you google killer dowel pin or go to youtube and look it up there is hundreds and hundreds of links on this issue but you come to any dodge forum and you never see any posts about it.
Thanks i will check it out
