Owned this truck for three decades but at this point with a knee replacement in my near future and probably two, I have decided to let it go. Just have never been able to find time in life last 10 years to get back to it and probably never will. cab, fenders, bed sides, front end, etc all stripped to bare metal and premiered to protect. All metal is in above average condition except rear tailgate which has plenty of dents. except for around two of the cab mounts, cab is very very nice, no metal work to fix on the sheet metal....
Original V8 and transmission was gone when I bought it. This is an original pushbutton automatic truck as well with the original 8 3/4" rear axle. Original color was red.
What I was able to do in past years:
1) took apart the entire truck and still have everything. Only thing gone is the original bed floor. This is a long bed truck.
2) had the entire frame and support brackets bead blasted and the frame was in fantastic shape. There was no need to straighten or fix a single thing. All was premiered and painted with Eastwoods primer and chassis black paint.
3) Rear end gears were crazy low so had them replaced with a 3:23 set with new bearings so easy to drive. Axle bearings also replaced and all the parts for attaching the leaf springs to the frame new.
4) Transmission was completely rebuilt and a new torque converter installed.
5) installed a completely rebuilt poly 318 from a 65 Plymouth wagon. Motor was broke in for about 1000miles in that car before removed.
6) Bought new kingpin set and had the bushings machined to .001" tolerance like the book says and all installed.
7) Bought from Kanter the complete brake kit with all the hardware, wheel and master cylinders, hoses, brake pads, etc.
8) New water pump and fuel sender unit.
9) New front steering arms/rods in a box
10) Have a huge collection of literature. Every time I saw something at a show or online, I bought it as I love all the original stuff. Probably have every brochure, dealer info, ads, parts and service books that there are for the 57 model year trucks.
Just don't know the original history of the truck, but after digging into it, must have led an easy life for a truck. I don't think the entire front end or fender metal even has a ding in them. Seats are original and in fantastic shape with no need to replace if you like that look which is very cool. It had complete seat covers on it so it preserved the originals. Other than a few spots on cab floor at the cab mounts and a little around under the right foot was from wet feet probably the rest is very very good, no rot or dents. Make no mistake, this is a project and a puzzle but has a decent start to it. Very sorry I don't have more pics as I have parts and pieces in many spots stored here in my buildings so want to make sure I have actual good honest interest from someone before dragging them all out and in a place to take more pics.
I do have over 200 pics I took with 35mm film and digital both as i took it apart. Just have to figure out how to transfer out!.. I also have good tires mounted on rims to make this a roller again.
My plan now after going through all my paperwork and adding my costs up is if I'm able to break even on all spent then ok, I will let it go. Otherwise I MAYBE will wait and see if I can continue on after knee replacements in the next few years.... Soooo, Really have not followed the value of these in years so not sure if this is a fair price but I will sell for a cash price of $8500 for everything I have. For a chat about more details, call or text Jim at 585-281-6434
Also, I do have a flatbed trailer so if you can't pick up, For some add on costs to deliver and its reasonably close might be able to work out a sale.
