    There is a resistor on the firewall, I ordered the correct electronic distributor from RA, going to keep the points style dist. as a backup. I have to say, this forum has been so helpful, and all you guys are great, dont mind my stupid questions at all, thank you!

    Ok, sounds like good sense to me, the new one has one black wire coming out of it, the old one has two wires, one orange, and one black. Do I go black to black and cap off the orange wire? Sorry for the newbie questions....I will learn. Thank you.

    Ok, Obviously the motor has a add on electronic ignition, the distributor itself wobbles when its running, thinking bent shaft. My new RockAuto distributor is points style. My question is, does anyone recognize this brand of electronic ignition? Then hopefully I can find a install instructions...

    Will do, just ordered new distributor from Rock Auto, thanks for all the help. Its wobbling like crazy, must be a bent shaft....update when the part gets here.

    I have a 81 Dodge pickup with a 68 318, I have found the notch on the HB, but cannot find the timing "scale " anywhere? Looked on passenger side and driver side. Is the timing scale tab bolted on(missing?) or is there a stamped or molded scale I cannot see? I need to replace the distributor...
