I wouldn't buy anything electric UNLESS the government completely backed off the mandates.
I refuse to support what amounts to mafia-like strong arm tactics the government is using to force these POS on the public.
There is a YouTube channel, I think it is called "Car Stars" or something close to that. They had a video on the Ramcharger from the Lone Wolf Mcquade movie. They had some video footage of classic Dodge trucks in it, pretty cool.
Me too.
The dual stacked headlights indicate a 1979 or 80 model. What surprises me is the horrible condition it was in for only being a few years old at the time of the TV show. Missing grille, badly faded paint...
If you like the Sublime/Lime Light color, that would be great.
I have never liked that color.
There was one I saw that may not have been offered....It was a classic F7 or F8 green metallic and black. It looked great to me.
The last one is a W200, full time 4WD.
It was built with a 440, 4 speed and Dana 60 rear, 44 front. I swapped in an automatic to make it easier for the wife to drive if ever the need arose....which so far never has. I have a few non running cars here to push around, and when I buy cars I intend...
I graduated High School in 1983. The New Dodges were not all that cool as I left school but the Macho Power Wagons were a few years old then and still were popular enough to see them occasionally.
The 1977-78 models were my favorite...that grille is spectacular.
The Macho trucks were all...
I'm familiar with the yellow wire. In my Charger, I had to ground it to allow the engine to start after I pulled the 727 and swapped in the Tremec 5 speed.
I have never owned a vehicle that was originally built with a manual transmission prior to this one. This truck was owned by a guy that liked to tinker and do weird things to his vehicles. All sorts of stuff had been changed, added and substituted. You know, stupid old man gadgets and Harbor...
A guy at FABO that is a friend of mine (Who often chimes in to bail me out of a jam) popped in and set me straight.
4wd trucks with manual transmissions were originally fitted with slightly different starter relays. They lacked that spade at the lower right corner:
Instead, they had a flat...
The truck relay, this looks just like the one I bought.
These have mounting tabs on each side.
At the bottom of the relay, there are 2 spades. MY old relay only had the one on the left. Oddly, I didn't have any wiring going to the neutral safety switch on the transmission. The NSS terminals...
The truck starter relay is different than the car versions. I'm not sure why since the starting circuit is the same. Here is the car relay:
This next one is missing the spade for the neutral safety switch,
I call the NAPA store and the man asks...."Which engine?"
Uhhh....
Does it matter? I'll bet that it does not but the counter man with experience already knows and bypasses these questions.
I can't be hard on the guy...This is a 49 year old truck and he is maybe....25?
The truck has had a...
I was able to score a few other tidbits...
An overhead console housing.
A couple of lenses.
Drivers side switch panel.
Tilt steering adjustment knob.
....And one taillight.
Yard #2 was smaller and off the beaten path but had ONE truck that had some great parts left.
I got this bumper...
Only one tiny ding in a place that will get hidden by the corner of the right rear SRT cladding piece.
This bumper is otherwise straight. I'll sand blast and prime the...
Day two.
Six salvage yards yesterday, 3 today and today was a much better day.
I got to the last yard yesterday and even though they close at 5:00, they don't let anyone in the yard within 30 minutes of closing. I was there at 4:28 and the man was as strict as a prison warden. I drove about an...
On the 2007, there was a feature to defeat the seat belt chime. I do wear mine but not when I'm out back in the yard or just tooling around at low speeds. I don't need any nanny state BS telling me when to click the belt.
I'm in a place that I never thought I'd be.
For years, I've had classic cars as projects and fun cars. I'd go to the self service junkyards to look for parts for repairs or upgrades. In the 90s, I'd hit all the local spots to keep my Darts and Dusters going.
Some time in the late 90s, early...
I haven't abused it but I have treated it like a truck. Towing, hauling and driving on all sorts of roads from 2 degrees to 117. Snow, rain and blazing sun. I've ran in 3 quarts low on oil several times but never overheated it. The only sign of miles I have on it is that it does use oil.
