Did any trucks come with this head. According to the world wide web, they were a one year only and came only on the 350? A set of these fell into my hands recently and just trying to find out some info about them.
The 840 CCA marine battery was the biggest I could find locally. The Walmart batteries (900's) didn't last as long as the Delco's did. Usually when the batteries in the diesel start getting a bit weak, they work for a good while in a V6 Dakota lol. Also have been having good results buying...
I'm running a single 840 'marine' cranking amps in my 97 diesel. It's doing fine but yeah, in cold temps, the starter is slow. After all, what compression does a 97 diesel engine have and they don't like cold weather? Something like 17 to 1? I don't drive it much but, bought a group 27 battery...
I appreciate all of the info and pics! Can you tell me the differences of the two part numbers? Also, do you know which one would work the best with the 1st gen Dakotas?
I still have my 97 2500 Dodge Cummins powered truck. Only 140k miles on it. Could use a paint job on top but that's the reason I got it cheap back in late 2001. I kinda miss the truck that's in my avatar but man, that thing was slower than my old 71 Super Beetle running on 3 cylinders!
Well, my 95 Dakota needs them again....and so does my 96 Dakota. I wonder what's in my 97 2500? Never had to fix the wipers on that one. Watch it creator now lol. The 95's been broken for a while now but since I don't drive it in the rain much at all, I've been putting it off. Hate doing them!
Ring gear size of the 70 is 10.5 but it uses the same size diff guts as the 60. Don't remember if the bearings are larger or not. I think they are. The housing uses the same size diff cover but the overall size of the housing is larger. If you really want to increase the strength of the rear, go...
We took it in recently because there were times that you couldn't get the key out of the switch and mentioned the transmission issue....they replaced the shifter and key removal hasn't been an issue and they also said they 'took care of the transmission' too. Go figure.
Excerpt from a service bulletin....

33 here this morning but there was some half frozen water out back from the rain the other day. I'm thinking my gauge isn't on the money....but hit 60 today which is much better than the 45 yesterday!
