Hey guys, I just bought a used 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 and it came with a gooseneck ball hitch that I want to remove, but I can't figure out how to remove this particular kind. All the Youtube videos I've seen show don't have this kind of attachment, and I can't figure out how it works. I've attached some photos. There's a hole in the top of the hitch that's filled with grease. There's a lever on the side and a warning label that makes it sound like you're supposed to pull the lever to release the hitch, but I can't get it to move, even after spraying WD-40 around all the parts I could think of. The parts underneath the truck just don't look like anything I've seen before. Anyone know what the heck the brand is and/or how to remove the hitch without taking off the whole setup?

Looks like it raises and lowers by pushing the rod in and out. I can not tell what locks it in place form the pictues. If you can get it unlocked and it still will not move beat on the ball with a wood post. It may break loose and it may not. Good luck. If you have some way of getting it in there transmission fluid and acetone mixed makes a good deruster.

That's a type of hidden ball hitch. The lever is supposed to release the ball so you can flip it over and have a flat bed floor. I don't know what brand it is though.

And it doesn't look like the bedliner has been out for a long, long time so the rollover piece is likely rusted quite solid. With the bedliner in place you'll likely have trouble getting it freed up and removing the bedliner won't guarantee success.

Everything but the ball and safety chain loops is under the bed. Your going to have go under and see what the release looks like. Even it gets moved into the release position, like the other guy's said the ball may not come out
On some of the hidden ball hitches the ball mount is open on the bottom, so you may be able to drive it up from under the truck.

Can you try unscrewing it? It has to screw into a nut or some other threaded piece under the bed.

Edit: I'm thinking of a conventional hitch, but it may still be screwed in.

Looks like my B&W, but rusty. You pull the lever out and either pull it up or push it down and it should lock in the “open” position. If not have someone pull it out with you in the bed and take a dead blow hammer and bang on the ball. The clearance is very tight and it doesn’t take much to get it stuck. You ought to be able to put it ball side down back into the hole to have a “flat” bed. I’d take a scotchbrite pad to the surfaces before putting the ball back in.
