Lets see your plow rigs!

My snowplow isn't getting much love this year, we have only gotten about 5" total so far. Looking forward to more snow in the new year.:)

Decided not to plow anymore if it can be prevented. Just stay home till it melts. Here that is usually only a few days anyway and there is no needed to make huge piles that stick around for ever. Some day when the snow blower is operational again it can snow again.

I'm hoping to be in the market to buy one for my '98 Ram in the next year or so. All depends on when my shop gets built.

So you did all that yard work last summer for someone else?
I have a lot in a town near me, two, maybe two and a half acres. Big enough to build the size building I want. I can only go about 30 x 40 in town. Laura told me to build a four car garage St home, I told her it wouldn't fit all we (I) have she told me "maybe you have to eliminate some of them". "Nope, they are paid for, and , nope." So she said I'll have to find some land. He he, she doesn't know I've been doing just that! I wasn't sure my friends were gonna follow through, until last month, so I started making calls to get estimates to see how many more years I can work overtime.

Overtime is just extra hours I don't get paid for. Some times it really sucks being self employed.

Here is my 1979 W-150 Sno-Commander. 318 2bbl, 727, 8 3/8 rear end. Attacks the snow very good with the full-time 4wd. I am curious what came in this factory package. I know higher amp alternator, and mine drives like a 3.21 with "Sure-grip" I only use it to service my Minnesota property. My driveway is 2/10 of a mile long. I think I am 3rd owner. 79k miles. It came out of Wisconny and appears used for snow use only. Body is rusted and pounded, but I changed the fluids, rebuilt the Holley 2bbl, and it runs smooth. Tranny does not slip. Also put in new wiper motor, and made sure the defroster works with some heat. Gas gauge no longer connected, but this is so much better to service the property then attaching a snow blower to the John Deere lawn tractor.

I like it, looks like a old Meyers blade.

Could use it maybe 3 or 4 hours out of the year for snow removal every 4 to 5 years. This is the first year in the last 4 that we have had any snow to move. Normally this means we will have about 3 more winters of snow and then the 4 to 5 years of dustings.
I have been thinking about mounting a tractor 3 pt blade on the back of the 1t truck and using a remote operated wench to lift it.

I have a magnetic base revolving light that I use when plowing, but it's not the brightest. I saw a permanent mount light on a local auction site and picked it up for about $25. I didn't want to mount it to the cab. So I sacrificed a round magnetic tray that I had.

I trimmed off the ring, flattened it, punched 3 holes, mounted the light, added a cord I had and now I can put it on as needed when plowing.
It's not the prettiest on the bottom, but it works great.

The tray was paper thin after I cut of the ring. The metal crinkled like tin foil.

I started with one similar to this, it was a freebie from the auto parts so I wasn't heartbroken about cutting it up.

I would have, but I couldn't find one and I was sure I had one. I will find it when I don't need it.
