Transmission swap

I was wondering if anyone knew if a two wheel drive 5spd is different than a four wheel drive 5spd

I guess that depends, what are the transmissions out of? The actual transmission may be similar or the same, but the gearing may be different and the tail shaft would definitely be different cause it would have the transfer case adapter bolted to it or part of it.
