I'm looking at getting an 89 D150 360 auto and it has a odd issue. It'll run fine for 10-15 minutes then shut off like you turn the switch off but will start right back up again and run fine for another 10-15 minutes. It sounds like the dist or ECM is getting hot BUT restarting right away doesn't fit that problem. Any good ideas?

What does this have for a ignition system? Does it have a module like this one?

It's fuel injected isn't it? It should have a computer in the LF fender well, if it is fuel injected the ECM controls spark

Having a similar problem with my 89-D-150(318 auto) . The first fix was a frayed wire at the alternator. That worked for a while now I have no spark and I'm baffled. I bought a new 89 3/4 ton van(318 auto) and had no problems what so ever.
Keep in mind that, the same engineers that designed the Apollo 11 computer and, the 81-83 Imperial EFI, designed the ones we have in our trucks !
