So I started doing a rear disc brake conversion on my "Betsy". Pulled the axles out which are the stock 28 splines. Upgraded the third member but never the axles. I have checked them a couple of times after some driving like I stole it and never any issues. This latest removal however is getting some twist action! Got Currie making some aftermarket axles for her right now!
What I'm wondering is if I'm just now starting to twist 28's pushing 553 ft lbs of trq to the wheels and I'm always hearing guys saying they need 31 and 35 spline axles (when we all know they don't have a trans brake or drive their car that hard in the first place) how do they come up with that conclusion...?
