Gauge readings volts at 11

Okay so i believe i'm having an issue here my volts gauge only reads 11 volts and my cd player cuts off if i turn the radio up past 5 is anything wrong here? shouldnt it be up at the 16-18 reading?

That depends on what you have your volt meter hooked to . Are you haveing any chargeing problem's ? It sounds like to me that your alternater is'nt putting out . I'd check the main post on the back of the alternater to see what that show's . Mine is putting out about 17 / 17 1/2 . It should be putting out anywere between 16 to 18 like you said .

one of the wires fell off the back of the alternator, all is fine now

Let me guess . One of your feild wire's right ? I just went threw that with mine today . One of the feild wire's had a brake about two inch's into the harness .

yea thats what had happened, i believe something chewed through it
