Hi all... I'm new to the truck forms but have been a member of A bodies only for several years. I'm a huge fan of the 2nd gen Dodge Rams and have owned several of them over the years, even ordered one new. Anyway I've always been curious as to the actual fate of the 1500's and 2500's used for the staring role in the movie Twister. Like most Dodge guys I know they used several V8 1500's and V10 2500's to play the same truck. How many survived filming? Were they sent back to Chrysler for destruction or are they setting in the back of a movie lot somewhere collecting dust? If any did survive it would be cool to get them into the hands of Dodge enthusiast so they could be cleaned up / restored and shown. I’ve looked around on the net for any info but found nothing solid…
Welcome to the site "Black Dodge" ! From what I understand "Hadler Relations" ( who does all the Chrysler vehicle leases for Hollywood ) say's that all of the Ram 1500/2500's were crushed after filming the movie . Also all of the engine sounds of the Ram that were heard in the movie were from a 5.9 motor and not a V10 .
Thanks! I appreciate the info, but I was afraid of that. What a shame you would think they would at least keep one or two around with the popularity of old movie / TV cars. Even if they just kept them in Chrysler’s own collection or let an employee purchase one as is with no liability on their part. I just read last week that the same thing happened with the new SRT Challengers used in the new fast and furious movie. Of course that is most likely the fate of the original Vanishing Point Challengers too…
