Beware of MAACO!

i After finishing my truck, I asked MAACO for an online quote. I told them it was primed and I said it had a few body repairs to be done. They told me $1800 on line. So I made an appointment. They looked out the window at my truck and started at $9000.00. They went out with me to look a my truck and started pointing out all the problems with little dents and scratches. Then they started to pitch sales specials. By the time they gave me a price for acrylic enamel, they had loweered the price to $6600.00. but only if I decided that day. They had a vacancy in their lineup. I left telling them I would be back later that day with a ride. AS IF!!! On the way home, I picked up several cans of satin gloss grey in two shades and decided that I could buy alot of cans of paint for $6600.00. It took a few days, but I painted it myself and it turned out rather well. Its my driver and I don't need to be able to count my teeth in the gloss. Amazing what you can do without spending thousands!

Yeah MAACO is notorious for that bait and switch BS - good on you for walking away and doing it yourself with rattle cans!

well happiness is in the eye of the beholder . i'm glad your happy with it . back in the day , an old house paint brush and a can of paint was just enough to make some folks happy , some of my first trucks were painted with a brush by prior owners . i just ran then as is , paint was not a factor for me , performance was my issue . so i built sleepers , lots of hp and no show. this 64 d100 was just oem orange paint faded , rusty , but with a hp 383 typewriter 727 with some mods , fit the bill .
