1987 bronco re-vitalize procedures??

I have a 1987 bronco that has been sitting for at least 4 years. I'm pretty sure the gas is fubar & the tank needs dropped, also have read where the column has an issue with a pot metal lever .
The truck is in solid shape 4 wd & was running when parked. Thoughts on how to proceed-- it is a stock 302 bronco with no mods , paint is good except on the hood & the fiberglass top.

Well one major issue will be taken of then, right? You will clean out the tank and put a new internal fuel pump in. We have done the external pump but have yet to do that internal one...

Yes, the gas is fubar. Is this metal part associated with engine bay area steering function or is it in the column and effects gear selection?
