bird bath hoods on newer D/W trucks

Btw, I had several pickups with the BB hood starting with a 74....hated them. Think I mentioned that before lol

bird bath hoods on newer D/W trucks

Did the 79's have the flat hoods? How bout the early 79 trucks? Seem like I had a 79 that had the bird bath hood and found the later flat hood and swapped it out. I hated the BB hoods and thought what moron would have designed such a dumb thing! I had 3 79 trucks and only remember one having the...

    EFI Question

I know nutin about it!! Do know a little bit about the mid 90's port injection systems and yeah, gotta get someone that has the tools for it. I have two mid 90's Dakotas and knock on wood, they keep on truckin. Picked up a load of crap gas in one of them that was full of crap and had to replace...

    Will 80s calipers fit on a 74 d100

What I did on an older pickup was to add another shunt strip to the gauge to what was already there. It made the gauge less sensitive but it still let me know there was still juice going to the battery.

1st Gen 1998 Dodge Durango Problems

Does the first gen Durango have a BCM? How bout a headlight relay? Had a 2000 for many years and the relays were on the driver's side towards the front. Wouldn't hurt to look. I also noticed that the relays were a like and were the same as the ones on my 95 and 96 Dakotas.

So, what can I look at to improve in town MPG?

The Dakota is a good truck....except for mileage. I've used mine for parts chasers and going to the store for groceries (tool box or plastic storage container in the back) and parking is a breeze plus loading 1500 lbs isn't hard. I have a 97 2500 Club Cab lwb diesel and well, it's just big but...

So, what can I look at to improve in town MPG?

I've had several V6 Dakota trucks starting with an 87. That one was the best on mpg of all the ones I've had. No OD but had a 2.94 rear gear iirc. Low 20's on the hiway was easy and so was getting 17 in town. Next was a 90 extended cab. Talk about not much spunk vs the 87. Don't remember the...

    904 transmission question

If the fluid is low enough to hamper performance, it will usually whine when put into reverse. Not sure but the whine is cavitation

    Temp Sending Unit Position?

In the plumbing world it's called a reducing bushing or just a bushing. I've always liked to use a brass or stainless-steel bushing there.

    Will 80s calipers fit on a 74 d100

Sure does! Thought maybe your new flex lines might be clogged.....but may not be quality control problem on the calipers. Probably more like parts sitting on a shelf for years on end....?

    Looking for a truck!

My trucks don't need service records.....95, 96 and 97 :D and all still running great. Well, the 95 is pretty loose as I was pretty hard on it lol but yeah, my are the exception to the rule. Most people though don't keep good service records and betting that my records are better than most even...

    904 transmission question

Fluid level up to where it should be checking in neutral and at operating temp? Who did the rebuild? Is it a shop and have a warranty?

    Temp Sending Unit Position?

The plug where the USA tag is located should work....if not, someone will chime in. So long as it sees the water below the T-stat.....

    Engine swap header question

How hard was it to blow it apart? I've only parted one Dakota and it was a 91 and it impressed me that it was fairly easy to pull it all apart.

    It is starting

95@55% in my shop as I type.....91 with the same humidity just outside the back door with a carport cover over the gauge. The gauge inside is maybe 10' inside the building with a floor fan blowing in lol

    Engine swap header question

Automatic transmission? And how fast do you plan on going? The 9" has a lot of aftermarket parts for it which makes it pretty good but also at a pretty good cost. It also robs a bit more power over the others.....

    Engine swap header question

AJ, are you talking about freeing up server space or space from your own computer? It would be nice not to delete it from here if that's what you're talking about. I've built a 'few' engines too starting with my first one back in the mid 70's. Did I know what I was doing? Not really and didn't...
