Ever consider an engine swap to a Hemi? You can get complete take out engines/trans with all the electronics fairly inexpensively. Sounds drastic, but it's not a difficult swap.

The new 1500 Hemi Rams get much better mpg's. Avg about 17+ mpg. Long runs on the interstate 200-300 miles or more can see 19mpg.
