I'm thinking about adding on to the outside pen area. They don't get out as much as I thought they would especially in the winter. If I remember my dimensions correct they have 8sqft each of ground space now which is about the minimum recommended. I think I figured out plans to add another...
It is very different and refreshing attitude around here. I am glad I found this forum and im sure you will be too.
Thanks! Put a lot of work into that coop.
Sorry havent been on in a while. It is work out pretty good, Thanks. I am thinking about doing an expansion though they look a little crowded now that they are full grown.
i hope they enjoy iv'e sure spent a lot of time on it. No this one isn't really portable. i figured we would just let them out to roam the fenced yard when we are home as often as we can or i have seen some tractors made out of PVC pipe. that may be an option if they try to get out of the yard...
Got a little more work done on the coop. Thought I had taken a picture of it all painted but I guess I didn't. So I think all I have to do is get the dividers for the nesting boxes built and installed and get the run covered in wire.
They fold in towards the truck and flip up for towing manually. The convex mirrors adjust manually too. The main mirrors though have defrost and adjust electrically. I know that they sale ones that fold towards the truck electronically but I'm not sure if they have ones that will flip up.
Yeah I need to. I drove it around a little now. They seam to work good. It was pretty windy today and they didn't shake at all in either position. Just a little vibration in the glass portion but nothing bad. Might be a little while before I get the trailer hooked up for the true test though.
Well I was finally able to get the mirrors and visors installed. All was pretty easy and went together really quick.

I'm planning to put dividers in the little side extension. That whole roof portion opens up for collecting eggs. I just had to get them in there they outgrew their box in the garage.
So there seemed to be interest in my chicken coop I have been building. So I thought I'd share my progress. Thank you for all of the suggestions and tips. I appreciate them all. Ok to get to the project. The idea of the project was to build a coop/run combo as inexpensively as possible without...
Decided to bite the bullet and ordered me a set of tow mirrors for the truck. Tired of not seeing the whole picture while towing the trailer. After some research I ended up ordering a set of trail ridge mirrors from 1aauto.com. There were cheaper options but these aren't badly priced at $225...
Yeah I haven't decided how I want to do that yet I'd like to let some light in somehow too. I also need to put in a bigger door on the other side so we can clean it out and I want to build a stand so they can get under it to get shade. Then a run to attach to the front. This design below is kind...
Sounds like we're doing about the same thing with the garden except we went with a raised bed because we have such a hard time controling the weeds and we have poor soil quality. So far it has helped. I've used one of those mantis tillers and they are nice. Way better than the old mid tine...
Sorry for your loss. It's never easy loosing loved ones.
I like rabbits I had a few growing up. The wife was wanting the chickens for the eggs. She is wantin to start relying on ourselves a little more and the grocery store a little less. We also planted a garden this year.
