    1979 Dodge W150 Warlock Backfiring

Still smokes when it warms up, but I fear that'll take some serious coin to fix

    1979 Dodge W150 Warlock Backfiring

Oh absolutely! Still have a few more odds and ends to make it road worthy but I'm getting there. Still have to do the parking brake (cable is so corroded and shot I'm just going to do a new one), need the exhaust done, and need to build a wood bed for it

I installed the adjusters today, the pedal feels way better! Haven't been able to take it out on the road yet, just a short ride up the driveway and it felt good. Here's to hoping their squared away

I bled the master with it on the truck but did the same thing you mentioned to do (have done it 3 times now to be sure) I'm kicking myself now... When I redid the rear drum brakes I threw the old adjuster screws back in there bc I wasn't sure what they did... They are frozen solid and won't...

    1979 Dodge W150 Warlock Backfiring

First post on the brakes was taking my wife's word on it as she was pumping the brakes and I was bleeding the valves. When I decided to check for myself I found that I couldn't pump the brakes firm at all, truck on or not. I went ahead and kept the old master thinking it looked fine. I did not...

Update: Brake pedal does not get firm at all. I used a one man bleeder kit, did all the wheels in order again, and after it was all said and done, the pedal never got firm. I've bled them now twice. Any ideas??

So your thinking the vacuum hose from the back of the manifold to the booster has a hole in it?? I had my wife press the brake pedal and hold it as I opened and closed the bleeder valves on each wheel, starting at right rear, left rear, right front, left front. She said when she bled them they...

Forgot to mention... With the new brake booster, the engine is running fine now. No backfires anymore, it's holding timing at 12 degrees. It does smoke still, but the Bardhal stop smoke is helping limit it.

    1979 Dodge W150 Warlock Backfiring

Update on the old warlock. I replaced the brake booster and every brake line on the truck today. I bled the master cylinder, then bled all the brakes with the pedal method. Before the booster was replaced, the pedal pulled to the floor, now I'm getting a pedal that falls to the floor when I go...

Rest assured the exhaust is on its last leg lol It's barely hanging in there. Parts of a mouse nest came out of the passenger side exhaust pipe earlier today

I haven't had the chance to do the distributor due to rain. I Threw in a new fuel pump, gets fuel fine now. Only bit of concern was the first fuel it pumped through the filter was red/orange colored, but after a minute of running it was back to usual clear/light yellow color. I also took some...

    1979 Dodge W150 Warlock Backfiring

So I redid the fuel system about a month ago. I dropped the tank, cleaned it with a degreaser, made sure I washed it all out, put a new fuel sending unit in from LMC, connected it up to brand new fuel lines I bent with a short section of rubber hose, and it mates to the fuel pump with a short...

    1979 Dodge W150 Warlock Backfiring

While trying to get all this figured out, I ran it out of gas. Went and put 5 more gallons in the tank, tried to restart it and now the mechanical fuel pump won't pump fuel. This will now be the 4th mechanical fuel pump I've put on this truck in a year

    1979 Dodge W150 Warlock Backfiring

Ill go ahead and recheck the wires again. They appeared to all be in the correct order. One thing I did notice before I timed it yesterday, the #1 spark plug was pointing at the #2 cylinder. It's now pointing at the very front of the engine, still not at cylinder #1. Another thing I'll check is...

    1979 Dodge W150 Warlock Backfiring

I haven't done the vacuum advance adjustment yet, but I did go ahead and adjust the timing. I've got the timing set to just above the "Before 10", hoping to get the 12 BTDC setting. I had to adjust the idle screw on the carb slightly so that it wasn't revving so high (I don't have a tac on the...

Ok I'll give that a shot real quick. Turn clockwise or counter clockwise to get more or less vacuum?

    1979 Dodge W150 Warlock Backfiring

Thanks for the replies so far! So today i double checked the spark plug wire order, all is good there. No wires out of place. I also cleaned and found the timing mark on the balancer and the timing indicator? on the block. Started her up, it's showing 0 degrees at idle when warm, with the vac...

    1979 Dodge W150 Warlock Backfiring

It's the stock ignition system. I do have an induction timing light. I tried using it on the #1 cylinder and it seemed steady and consistent, but again, I only tested on the #1 cylinder. Tomorrow I'll check all of the cylinders and see how they look. Im going to go ahead and clean the harmonic...

    1979 Dodge W150 Warlock Backfiring

Hey how's everybody doing? I have a 79 W150 warlock with a 360 that I'm trying to bring back to life to get me back and forth to work at the fire house this winter. I've run into plenty of problems along the way that I've been able to solve, however I'm having difficulties with the engine... Ive...
