    It is to cool the fluid. It is called a rear diff. cooler part of the Aisin heavy duty package...I think it looks tough. I also sprayed mine with clear coat to keep it from oxidizing..Bill

    I don't really feel any difference in tow mode on the up shift but I don't like the down shifting when I let off.
