I have one that has cracks where the spokes attach to the hub. I kept it because I always figured I would try to repair it someday... If you want to give it a go I'd be happy to sell it.
Looks like a cool project. That truck didn't happen to be a slant six, did it? I think I recognize it. Anyway, the step side factory light duty bumpers are really hard to come by. If Gib's is in good shape, it would likely be worth it to have it shipped. I'm thinking shipping should be fairly...
It's the same as back in the 60s and 70s. When they would retool and come out with a new truck, it would be 1/2 and 3/4 ton only. Then it would take a few years for the 'new' design to carry over to the medium and heavy duty trucks. So a 74 one ton and bigger Dodge was exactly the same as a 71...
It's a 90 Ram50 body, massaged onto a 70's W150 shortbed chassis. So right now it's all stock full size stuff for the drivetrain. 360/727/203/Dana44 and 9 1/4 axles.
Thanks man! The second one is the only one I actually took, and that was merely holding it out the window while driving, while trying not to drop the camera...haha I guess I was more trying to post pictures based on action, instead of artistic quality. I'll see if I have some better ones for...
That would be a 61-mid65.
No, that's unheard of! The cab mounts/floors, the rockers, the leading edge of the hood, the bottom of the doors, and below the tail lights all rust out like crazy on the 60's trucks.
A buddy and I went wheeling this weekend. Inaugural run for both our builds, and it...
I think Linus said it best: "And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shown round about them. And they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, "Fear...
It depends. Some of the trucks got the 833 (overdrive), mostly d100 'fuel miser' and some d150s. But what I find to be more common in my area is the NP435, which is standard top loader with a granny first. It's a big clunky unit that can pull down a house, but isn't very effective to speed...
As you expected, there is not one-stop-shop for A100 parts.
As for your motor needs, read up over on slantsix.org/forum There is a wealth of information there, the search button will prove quite useful. You can shave a ton off the head/block to bring the compression up. The head is the choke...
I rent it with a couple buddies at a ghetto storage place in town. Rough floor, no heat, no running water (except for what runs through the roof...), but it's big, and has a storage loft. Between the three of us, we have it pretty well equipped. Here's an older pic of it, but it's all I can find...
Someone on septline.org did it once with a '70 D100 (not sure the year of panther chassis, though?). The 70 and 91 frames are the same width under the cab, but a little different up front. Might be worth looking up?
Most full size trucks are going to be about the same width, so I'd suggest hitting up your local wrecking yard or used car lot to test them out. It wouldn't hurt to take a tape measure to double check. We can't recommend very well what will be comfortable for you...my stock 60's bench seat is...
