You say fresh paint. Grounding will not occur through paint. Maybe something to look at. Never paint the bellhousing mounting surface of an engine block or any grounding surfaces.

I would say if it's running ok leave well enough alone and go by an old beater to mess with.

I have never seen a three speed manual on the tree with a transfer case. Four speed top loader with transfer would be more like it.

Took the switch apart and cleaned with electrical cleaner, add new grease. All is well again. This switch is not that hard to take apart. Just don't loose any springs.

Local parts stores and internet. You know this is a tilt wheel. Everyone carries it for the non tilt.

Can't find a turn signal switch. I thought anything GM could be found. But apparently I was wrong. Why oh why did Dodge put GM tilt columns in their trucks? So any one out in no where land know where a turn signal switch for a GM 79-87 tilt column can be found. "Any one"
