Thanks for the replies guys. Finally got the front brakes working. The calipers were on correctly they were just frozen, gotta love quality control on new parts. But at least everything is new and functional now. List of parts below that may help others.
New lines from inline tube, my truck is...
Hey guys, at my wits end with brakes. I've replaced rhe booster and mc a few times. It seems the 80s model has the most pressure compared tk the 80s model. But both combos are not making the calipers work. Im thinking my issue is the actual caliper, they are new from autozone but that doesn't...
Im going with a sniper kit so figured i get the whole system. Also the tank i was given fills up from the bottom, so the inlet goes in at bottom and fills the tank from the bottom to the top (really weird set up) the metal one fills from the top, so that seems it would hold fuel better.
I did use the gear clamps, I plan on possibly blowing out the line and going from there. But ill take a look to make sure its not a biding issue with the rubber lines. Thanks for the feedback.
Yeah. Mine has the plastic tank but its from a 72 longbed. On the sniper kit I ordered the whole thing as a package. I think the fuel pump is 50-55 psi. Im going to get the exhaust shop to weld that bung in as well. I didn't want to use the clamp on thing, it seems like it would suck air eventually.
I've replaced all the rubber hoses, filter, and just put a new fuel pump on it to see if that did anything. It doesn't have a fuel pump in the tank, it has a mechanical fuel pump. I've narrowed it down to either a blockage or pin hole in the hard line or a issue with in line related to the fuel...
Hello again guys. Got my fuel system in but not drawing a lot of fuel to the filter and none to the carb. If i hook up a gas tank under the hood the truck will run all day. Im thinking maybe there is a clog in the line somewhere? I assume u could have a partial blockage in the line. I also...
Hey guys, I've replaced everything brake related, lines, mc, booster, wheel cylinders, etc. My brake goes all the way to the floor then the truck slowly rolls to a stop. If a slam on brakes, it still slow rolls to a stop. Anything im missing? I've bled the system like 10 times and no air is...
Ok yall update time. The 1980s booster and master cylinder worked just fine. Only difference is the bolt hole where thr pedal and booster are bolted together is smaller. So need a smaller bolt to connect the two. Outside of that it was plug and play.
I did, but i know it's not the master cylinder or the booster bc the brake pedal is still tough to move when it's not connected to anything. Had hoped to swap out the pivot shadt bushings yesterday but it rained all day.
Ok yall got an update. It's not the booster. I removed the pedal from the booster and there is a decent amount if pressure needed to pull the pedal back. I lubed it up and that seemed to help but it's still a little stiff and booster isn't pushing the pedal all the way back up. I'm wondering if...
Thanks for the feedback yall. I should have a booster and master cylinder coming but it's for an 84 or 85 ram. It looks like it might work but we will see. I'll post an update and if it doesn't work I'll shoot them a message. Thanks again for the advice, it's much appreciated.
Hey guys. Got my everything from the master cylinder to rear wheel cylinders replaced on the truck. Had to swap out the axle seals in it as well. Went to bleed the brakes and the pedal won't come off the floor. Felt like 50 pound weights when I reached down to pull the pedal back up. Removed the...
Thanks for the post don, that's pretty interesting. I have a 74 with a 72 tank, the fuel neck to gad tank connection is going to be interesting to say the least. Thanks for letting me know about the gas tank and straps working, there is a pull a part down the road from me with a 90s Dakota in...
