Hello,

Has anyone with a 57 D100 been successful in purchasing a new/replacement fuel tank that goes in the standard location (partially under the cab and the bed)?

I have struck out so far. It seems that all I can find are vendors that will create something for me as long as I provide the necessary dimensions and send pictures.

I am not adverse to mounting a tank under the bed if I need to go that route.

Let me know what you all know please. I am curious to hear.

I have replaced the tank in my 63 Fury. The OEM provided pictures and examples. That process was painless. No such luck with my D100 user manual; no tank pictures from what I saw.

So I would be all ears if someone knows the D100 fuel tank removal process and would not mind sharing. From what I can see there are 4 bolts (2 on each side) that mount the tank to the frame.

Put a jack under the tank and take out the 4 bolts you mentioned and see what happens. In a truck that old, I doubt there will be many surprises during disassembly.

I have struck out myself, after looking hard for a replacement. Don`t know what else fits. I see some places that promises to take your tank and repair it including pin holes of which mine has plenty. Has anyone had luck using a company to do this? Like gastankrenu.com?

Excellent, thanks. Let me know how you make out as this is something I want to get done this summer/fall...

well had the one in my 60 d100 out and its very simple , start with the fuel neck behind the seat at the cab floor , next the fuel line , its a couple of wrenches , one to hold the fitting , the other to back off the flare nut on the feed line . next is two bolts / springs at the front cross member , and two on the rear springs cross member . do support the tank when removing any fasteners . pics of my 60 , fuel line has been modified to 1/2'' copper . but you see the front has springs with thru fasteners . and the rear bolts straight to the cross member .

Thanks for the pictures Paul. They were very helpful. I got my tank back from "Moyer Fuel Tank Renu." I am very pleased with it. I have attached two photos (one from the top side; and one with the tank flipped on the side.

I could not get a photo of the inside. However that has been done. There is a reddish/brown type of color to it. My leak from the bottom side is not longer a thing of reality. I was pleased with the price.
