    I need opinions on dakotas/durangos

I've owned 4 different Dakotas 91 92 96 &2000 R/T with no problems like you mentioned The R/T went to the dealer under warranty to fix a problem with the steering column that caused it to cut out & miss when tilted to a certain position Other than that they were all VERY DEPENDABLE & the Durango...

    78 macho build

I use Magnum heads & Crosswinds intake they bump the compression a point & some change & you utilize the 1.6 rockers or cheap Chevy roller rockers if you choose or just put the Magnum 360 in it.

Wanted: Stainless steel transmission cooler lines, '75 D100

I don't see why you couldn't use the 79 up lines. I used 91-93 lines on my 77 CrewCab when I put the 518 RH in it they came out exactly where me originals did on my radiator. I think the difference is the 78 back are solid & the 79up have a hose barb end where they come to the radiator

    Leaf springs

I've got a pair that have a 1/2 ton main leaf & 3/4 ton pack. I've hauled a few good loads with them 3400# of steel across the scales. My truck is lowered 4" by moving the spring hangers up on the frame & the axle only hit the stops a few times coming out to the main road.

Carb choices need a little CFM help

I agree with MoparDude The stock 2bbl is around 350-375 cfm a best a 600 would work good with a larger than stock cam that carries about 1000 more rpm than the stock cam. 500 cfm will work great
