Oh yeah, I picked up another '79 pickup. Got this W200 for $1500 so I couldn't pass that up. Wasn't running so just had it towed home where we got it up and running great the next day. Threw some tires, a carb and plugs and that was that. Now I can use this instead of the black truck. And...
Just a few updates on the truck (with YouTube links)...
As of now, I'm at 11,300 miles
My son and I did 2024 Power Tour in the truck with only a minor issue with the HEI module
I was having an issue with fuel delivery, turned out the fuel line was plugged
Installed an Edelbrock AVS2 because I...
I can vouch for how useful they are, I generally went with parts from dodgeconnection.com before looking elsewhere so this truck is filled with parts from you.
My grandfather once said, “just keep picking at it” in regards to big projects and eventually it’ll be done.
Let us know on here if you start a thread…that’s awesome that you still

Decided to try to repair the polypropylene (plastic) gas tanks for both my stepsides. The gooped up one was a crack someone fixed but started to leak, and the other one is the tank that was on the black truck. Didn't think I'd be able to fix that one but it came out ok. Gotta use polypropylene...
We're planning on doing the Hot Rod Power Tour 2024 this June. The truck of course is Plan A, Plan B and C are the '79 Aspen and ''86 Cougar. We have plans d-f as well but not as good options.
So first on the list of things to do is go over my work on the truck. I've got a bunch of small...
My boys and I have also created a YouTube channel to just document all our car stuff and I've got a few videos of the trucks on there:
-Red Nite Express walkaround
-Driving the Not Little Red back home
-How the Not Little Red engine destroyed itself
There's a couple more of the trucks as well...
I picked up a 1979 D100 Stepside from the state of Washington this February and drove it 2400 miles home to Wisconsin. I got it for $3500 and it is essentially rust-free. I bought it at first as driver that could, if needed, donate body parts to my Red Nite Express if it were to get into an...
Yep, painted it myself. Can't recall exactly which paint, was likely just a can of matte black I got from the hardware store. For the red accents I just grabbed a bottle of my sons model paint. I'll bet one of those paint markers would work pretty well too. I recall having to be verrrry...
I finally caved and replaced the Thermoquad with a Holley Street Demon 625. Muuuuch better idle and throttle response. It really was bolt on and go. I did reset the idle mixture but that was it.
I had to get creative with the throttle linkage because even with the Holley stud I couldn’t get...
Probably not a bad idea. I’m not sure what they all did anymore when I sent my heads in to get dipped. Guess I’ll pull them this fall when I park it for the season.
Now that I’m driving it on the hi-way, I wanted it a bit quieter so I added some Noico sound deadener on the floor, back of cab and even on roof. I did double up on back wall and trans tunnel. Then I put some closed cell foam on floor pans. I also replaced the fiberglass firewall insulation...
