I had been going to the Mopar Nationals in Columbus for almost a decade, and the folks I went with never had any extra time off, so we bonzai'd the whole run every time, rotate drivers and stop only for gas. I met my girlfriend a month after the Bats, and the next year my usual crew bailed due to no money, so I asked if she wanted to go, I'd pay for everything, she agreed. The first 5 miles were a learning experience, she told me to turn the radio down so she could sleep (we left at 2am) and asked if I was leaving the window down the whole time. Staying awake with road noise being louder than the radio is tough! We stopped every hour or so, she's got a fused back, so she gets uncomfortable after a while. It was nice to see some of the stuff I had driven by and never had a chance to check out. Told one of the old crew about stopping and seeing things, "yeah, that's the way to do it." Wanted to strangle him!I've always loved traveling the roadways my self , stopping at truck stops and old school general stores , meeting new people and such . There's nothing like it .
